I’ve taken ownership of a new leaf 40kWH just over 2 weeks ago. I charge it at home on an Ohme home pro which is set to charge to 100% but quite often it’s only charging to 96-99%. My previous ev was an iPace which just always charged to 100%.

I’m not concerned about battery longevity so I'm prioritising charging to full over battery kindness and 96% charge is still much more range than I need. It’s not a problem I need a solution for but I’m interested if anyone else’s leaf doesn’t always charge to full or if anyone knows why this might be happening?

You could try a BMS calibration, loads of videos on youtube about how to do it, with mixed results. Bjorn's videos are great.

I’d not even heard about that. Thanks, I’ll have a watch.

Do you have the climate timer set?

I have a Leaf 30 and only ever charge using the granny charger, and when the climate timer kicks in and the car is plugged in, it can’t charge as fast as the heater / aircon is taking energy back out of the battery, so I end up with a few % less than full when I get in the car.

No, no cabin climate or preconditioning is set as we don’t use the car regularly enough to warrant setting it.

Any sort of charge timer, either via the car or the Ohme app?

Is it running out of time to get to 100%, it can take a while to do the cell balancing?

(These are my only two ideas, sorry! confused )

That’s a really good point. It’s the first time I’m using the feature on the charger which limits charging to the cheaper rate so it’s only charging for four hours while we have 7.5p per kWH. I forgot the charging isn’t linear so whilst there’s enough time to get 24kWh (or thereabouts) in, my calculation doesn’t account for the slowing rate as the battery nears capacity.

Thankyou.
