Hi all, I’ll keep it short, very close to buying a 997 carrera 2s manual. Lovely looking car with an extremely good history. Serviced initially at Porsche Hatfield then RPM Specialist cars.

I love a good indie and take my DB9 to similar and trust them implicitly.

Having no knowledge of RPM, could anyone recommend them as reliable, I’m assuming they are good as reviews look excellent.

Hopefully I’ll be joining you as an owner soon all being well.

Thanks in advance!!

wouldn't RPM be close to an 8hr round trip for you?
You'd be better with Williams Crawford down the road from you surely?

Yes indeed and was a little ambiguous but it has been serviced regularly at RPM so wanted to know if they are any good really.

well indeed they are, along with AutoFarm in Bicester (which is somewhat closer to you) and Nineexcellence in Surreya nd a few others up North, all cream of the crop....highly regarded and as good as it gets. A stamp in the book from any of those is as well regarded as that from a Porsche Dealership.

I prefer AutoFarm as the location is epic, a pic of their premises in this article.

They have a Porsche Museum, 45 years of heritage as a business, office space to use through the day, and what with the countryside walks, then on a sunny day it is the place to be whilst waiting for them to do a service.

I’ve always used indies, apart from a couple of emergencies when I had to use Porsche East London. I tend to use the smaller ones as I find the service is much more personal. They’re happy to show you the car on the ramps, show you any issues up close and never upsell. I’ve recently started using a new indie (the fantastic Porschacare) who pointed out a potential issue but said it’ll be fine for a year or two as my annual mileage was so low. One or two of the larger independents (no names mentioned) have grown so large they’ve lost a bit of the personal touch and feel more like main dealers now.

So true, and not only do they feel like main dealers, they charge like them too (AND they fall into the trap of operating what I euphemistically call “work creation schemes” which is another reason why I’d avoid using them.
OP, I’d be speaking with Steve Bull at Devizes. Well regarded, and you won’t be “paying for the name” just their years of experience and decent service. Ray North at Northway Porsche is another equally good outfit.

Down to earth, no nonsense, helpful AND good communication in my experience. Ray North at Northway is the same.
