To me these cars are just another of the not so special specials Porsche have rowed out over the years! At that price point if I wanted 4wd much prefer a 997.2 4s!

5K miles, so good luck to them. The world would be a much duller place if we all liked the same things.

The C2S 996 is a fine looking car.

I’d not buy one at that price - £20-30k possibly.

Depends on your taste / landscape and needs - not everyone is after a GT3 or RS nor can we afford, or want to subscribe to the over inflated prices.
Everything has a place and its an 18yr old vehicle.

Are they really beyond £30k now jeez that’s getting in a bit. At that level a tiptronic 996 Turbo would be a better buy.

I don't think it was ever a 'special', it was a standard model in the lineup. Pretty special arse on it though smile

To add if you want the fake 996 turbo look you can get a decent proper 996 turbo with change or perhaps a nice manual 997.1/1.5 for that money!
I will add though in the 996c4s defence they do sound nice! But to me they remain in the 996 c2/4 price range

They’re better looking than the turbo with the Halfords holes in the rear wings wink

Many people prefer a NA motor too.

Though the standard C2 .2 drives a fair bit better. But then you could say the same of 993 C2 versus the widebody cars.

So, it's obviously looks based, which has got to be fair enough. After all, 90% of the air cooled premium is the classic looks. People go on about the drive etc, but if you offered them a 996.1 that somehow drove just like an air cooled, would they be interested? Nope!

But an air-cooled that drove more a 996...? They call those restomods and people pay £500k for them.

I think if you find a genuine C2S, it will be a load more than £30k. Maybe £1m? Far more than any Turbo that's for sure.

They never made a 2wd S in the 996. £30k would probably get a pretty ropey or very high mileage 996TT tip these days.

The 996 market is a strange place at the moment. There used to be quite a price spread between a 996.1 and a C4S. The gaps have all narrowed and now it's not unusual to see a 996.1 for more than some .2 cars and something like a manual .1 coupe with aero in red or yellow will often fetch more than a C4S.

I may be in a minority, but I don't fully get the love for the 996 C4S. It has no more power than a C2 / C4, just a wider body. It doesn't feel as agile as the standard 'narrow body' car. It's slower than a regular 996 3.6 too. I prefer the way the standard C2 drives. I'd just not be willing to pay more for what feels to me like a car that's been built for looks, rather than to be a better drive.

If I recall correctly a 996.2 gt3 was £73.5k list and 996c4s was about £70k!!!!!!!
And wasn’t the 996 40th same body but 2wd or was that also narrow body?

I think the 40th Jahre was narrow body with the 4S/turbo style front bumper. An odd combination.

Agreed

But it also had the x51 power pack - that's unobtainium in 996 circles.
