Accurate print needed

Good evening all,

Here's a challenge with which someone may be able to help.

I've put this here rather than in the guns section so as to cast the net a little wider, towards the graphic/print experts.

I'm working on a target rifle, a BSA Martini International Mk.II that, according to its serial number, dates back to 1957 so it's two years younger than me!

I've arranged the fittings to add a scope rail but in order to fit a comb riser to the stock, I need the scale drawing I found online bringing up to full size.

Here is the drawing...



This is from BSA's archive and the specifications say that the distance from the trigger blade to the face of the butt plate is 13 7/8 inches . On my A4 print, the distance measures 237mm and this needs to be 352.42mm, assuming I used the right converter.

It isn't a massive enlargement so it'll go on A3 landscape format with ease. Back when T. Rex was about, I used to do such things on a Repromaster but that facility is long gone.

So, can anybody do a couple of copies for me? I'll naturally cross your palm with silver (Paypal).

Hi, so what you could try is going to a library or somewhere with a photocopier, and enlarging it by 1.48, from a4 to A3 paper. This should achieve the figure you require..

I'll have to check if the local library has the hardware. Using another online calculater, I found out that the magnification will be a 48.7004% increase, i.e. 148.7%

Tasmin 200 is going to help me but I can try this software for another project.

Something to ponder until your enlargement off the original arrives...

A very rough and ready size increase by 148.7% - however I also increased the resolution so I'm not sure if that will have affected the final size.



It seems the image size in mm is now 295 x 169 which isn't what you were expecting...hmm...

I'm the first to admit that maths never was my strong point. All I had was consistency - five sittings of the O-level, grade nine every time.
I have the memory. How to solve a quadratic equation...minus b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4ac all over 2a. The snag is, I wouldn't know how to identify a, b or c . Moreover, I wouldn't know a quadratic equation if I fell over one nor what one is actually for. This is what I got from being changed from trad maths to 'modern maths'.

The bottom line is that if the measurement I mentioned is correct, the whoel drawing will be to scale and the job will therefore be correct.

The original file is set to 96 DPI. The one below is set to 64.56 DPI.

Try printing this one and see how you get on.

Can you sketch on an upload exactly where this measurement is taken. That way I can scale it and repost for you to print at A3

Bear in mind that if the difference between 148% & 148.7% makes that much difference to you, the paper will move enough to make a bigger difference to the parts you are working with, which is why the original manufacture was done with steel patterns and jigs and tool making was a very high skill & high reward job.

Might be better to get the AUOTCAD version to automatically dimension everything up?

I can make things clearer still and I hope Tasmin 200 is watching because I could do with the following drawing at 1:1 scale too.


This one shows where I need to cut the upper edge (comb) of the stock. The part marked by the heavy black line is the part that will rise.
Immediately under this part, I've shown the comb riser mechanism. The top part that's inside the comb rises on the two posts and is locked with a pinch screw.

It's in aid of improving my target score from 96 or so.

Hiya, PDF will be fine, thanks. I've found a local print shop that will do A3 prints at 50p a pop! Some you win...
