I am about to purchase an approved used BMW from a local BMW dealer.
The car is in general in very good condition. However there are a number of small (1-2mm) chips in the windscreen. The dealer said these do not need repairing, also stating that doing so would probably make the blemish more visible.
Is this the case?
Does BMW have standards/policy about this in relation to approved used cars?
Should I be asking the dealer to fix this before purchasing the car?
With many thanks for any advice.

If they're not a safety issue, then the dealer is under no obligation to repair them - it's the same with paint chips.

You have two choices - walk away and find another car or buy it and get them repaired (it's about £40 for a chip repair).

Honestly you can’t avoid it. If your happy with the rest of the car just buy it.

Just get it replaced through your insurance for whatever it's costs now, £70-80? Ask for OEM glass, they should agree to it.

Insurance won't replace a windscreen for a couple of small stonechips.

But they will if it's broken when you accidentally let the wiper arm hit it when changing the wiper blades!

A car being BMW used approved doesn't really add a lot over most other used car purchases in the end, the warranty is useful but most of it is marketing IMO.

I bought a BMW approved used car myself (M240i) and i'm very happy with it but my car came with a few blemishes whcih the dealer basically said "Thats how it is, take it or leave it".
