Another one of my childhood heros has gone.

For those unaware of the maestro's work.

This is a classic.

A great, ground-breaking talent, along with the likes of Eno and Jean-Michel Jarre. Composed some truly brilliant pieces.

I love this clip of Jon Anderson talking about his old friend...

Loved his work with Jon Anderson. The opening sequence in Blade Runner set to his soundtrack is breathtaking. Rip.

First introduction to his work when I was a kid watching Carl Sagan's superb Cosmos.

Very sad to hear of his passing.

If you're not already familiar with some of his earlier work with Aphrodite's Child back in the late sixties and early seventies, it's well worth exploring...

I've been a passing fan of his for years. It's such a shame such an influential musician has gone.

I picked up one of his early albums, L'Apocalypse des animaux ,at a boot sale a few years ago and one of the tracks on that ( Creation Du Monde ) has a very Blade Runner vibe about it even though it was written many years earlier.

Absolutely gutted at the news of his passing, there's something amazing about his music. It takes you to another place, another time.

His music could transport you across the universe....

Or this one, that took me back in time, and I could see myself building the pyramids of all things...

It takes a very special level of greatness to compose music, that when you close your eyes and listen to it, takes your imagination in its hand and flies you away to somewhere extraordinary for a brief period of time.

There are dozens of pieces that I could list, all that took me somewhere. Places that without it, my imagination would never have found.

One of my favourite musicians of all time. Conquest of Paradise is probably my favourite of all his albums. Often listen to it from start to finish via a really good pair of headphones. RIP cry

Very sad to hear

loved his solo stuff and also pretty much anything made in collaboration with Jon Anderson.

It always takes me back to the 80's when I hear their stuff and I find his music a perfect choice for when I'm driving,

especially at night

this is one of my favourites

This saddened me to hear, very much so.

He had a melody for every emotion and occasion, from rousing, soaring synth-fests like 'Theme from Antarctica' to the gentle 'La Petite Fille de la Mer'.

His kind will be missed.
