One for the aviation buffs: Sled Driver

A lot of people here seem to appreciate a nice plane. I certainly do. That's why I splashed out on this little tome about the SR71 Blackbird:

I take it of the shelve every now and then and this book blows me away every time. Invariably, I end up poring over it for hours. The quality of the pictures and particularly the writing by former Blackbird pilot Brian Shul is second to none. It was a lot of money but worth every penny! Highly recommended!

I take it you have the sequel that Brian Shul wrote? It's called 'The Untouchables', co-written with his backseater. Same format as Sled Driver, with Shul's fabulous photographs. Untouchables is mainly a narrative of flying the Blackbird out of Mildenhall in Suffolk, with plenty of war stories of recce runs over Libya flat out at Mach 3.7 (as fast as it would go, apparently).

I remember seeing the SR71 displayed at Mildenhall in the 80's. It rocked...

I paid £20 for my copy of Sled Driver...

Well, I'll just pretend I didn't read that...

I haven't bought The Untouchables (yet). Does the content differ greatly from Sled Driver? I'll probably just buy that as well...
