Carbon fibre spoiler - can it be refurbed?

Hi there

I'm looking for some advice.

I have a carbon fibre spoiler that has fade / scuff marks on it as pictured:




I had a go at sanding moving from 320 up to 5000 grit to try and improve it but if anything its added more fade.

I'm trying to work out whether I need to go deeper or if its already gone too far to be refurbed

Any advice much appreciated

Did you stop at 5000 or did you compound/polish it afterwards?
If not, do that and see what the results are.
5000 grit is always going to leave a hazy surface.

If the lacquer is too far gone, you can sand it all back off and have it recoated quite easily.

I didn't but tried recoating it now with clear coat and it looks better but the scuffs are still there

Do the scuffs mean I've gone too far or can I sand past them do you reckon?
