Has anyone had their suspension set up for a 2002 Tamora/T350 changed to the factory recommended settings for the cars from 2004 onwards???

Since my car went in to the dealership, it came back and was sitting much higher off the ground, maybe by as much as 60/70mm. It's now a very different car to drive, presumably as the centre of gravity is that much higher.

Unbelieveably skittish at speed, changing lanes on the motorway with the slightest undulations! Also, doesn't feel so planted carrying speed into corners.

I was told TVR have told all the dealers to apply these settings to the older cars as/when they come in but I'm not convinced they're better than the old setup.

One benefit - at least the front splitter can make it over those speed bumps now.

Anyone else had anything similar?

Sounds like something is amiss with the settings they actually gave to you car as opposed to what they intended to do.

Just in case - have you checked the tyre pressures are 24psi all round?

60-70 mm that is a heck of a lot of change without moving the pickup points, either the old or new settings are very wrong.

Had a rise of about 20mm by Gorner's....does look like more though. Sounds like something not set right - or high tyre pressures as Targa suggests.

Couldn't tell much difference after my mods in May, but handled a treat at Spa & 'ring earlier this month.....put the wind up a few 911's

How's this for ground clearance?

I've just had my car serviced and it handles really sweet (18" rims), don't know whether settings were changed - I never asked. Disappointed to find that the steering geometry was way out, but all running very fine now. I'm a happy chappy.

I thought the factory mod was to raise the front by 15mm, mine is being done at the moment as part of its 12 k svc.

60 - 70 mm is a little excesive?

When my car goes in for a service, I write down in Word what I want/dont want them to do with my Tam (not that they ever take any notice!!!), The last instruction is always 'Leave the suspension settings alone'! I dont care that mine's lower than the new Tamoras, all I know is that it hadles perfectly!

Hmm, yes. I'm wishing my suspension settings had been left alone too!

Maybe it's not as much as 60-70mm but you could straight away tell it was sitting higher. It had new tyres on as well so I was waiting for those to scrub in (before judging it too harshly) which they have done now.

Just hunting round for a tyre pressure gauge so will check the readings before posting again.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

OK, it appears I was just being a muppet.

Checked the tyre pressures and they were set to 30psi all round. I put them down to 24psi and the difference was obviously very noticeable.

What are the recommended settings for the tyres? They're Eagle F1's put on by a main dealer a few weeks ago - thought they would have set them to the correct pressure...?

24psi all round.

Edited to say: Which spaz put 30psi in then?? - the dealer needs a good kicking IMO.

The Tamora manual says 29psi... I thought this sounded odd as my old Tuscan ran 24psi (with 18" spiders - same as my Tamora). Maybee the 29psi is for 16" tyres as opposed to 18"?

James,

I have just picked my car up from dealer, 12k service.

In addition to svc, they have adjusted the front ride hight to the new factory spec, (think it's +15mm), oh boy what a difference, the car is so much better to drive and i thought it was good before.

I am going to have some fun exploring the new limits of adhesion.

Hope you get yours sorted.

The ground clearance on my 2004 T350 is 100mm. Is this the height earlier cars are being raised too?
Has there been another mod post 2004 to raise even further? Thanks for any replys.

I can't see raising the car making that much difference. Perhaps you had something out of sync beforehand.

Trefor,

I must admit although the car handled well before, i didn't think it was as good as some people stated. Thought it may have been me not trying hard enough??

You are right, i have had a knocking noise comming from the front end since i bought the car. So i had the geometry checked at 6.5k at the factory, full 4 wheel laser alignment, they only made minor adjustments to one of the camber settings, found nothing else wrong and the noise went away for a while.

It needed front wishbone bush replacing in last svc. Can't believe one has worn after only 11.5k miles? and knocking noise has gone!!

It is fantastic now though, got a perminant smile on mi face.

Rolex, mine is now 120mm under lowest point of nose, was about 100mm before new factory settings, if that helps
