I’ve tried a few options:
Heater vent mount- wasn’t stable enough
Windscreen mount - looked too cumbersome.

I’ve cobbled together a mount from 2 manufacturers.

The phone holder is from ESR and it works with iPhone 12 “halo lock” which is a magnetic holder / charger
It’s part of this kit :

If you’re not bothered about wireless charging you could just use the second mount on its own. I’ve just unscrewed the top and used the ESR “top”.

To hold it securely I’m using the base of this which STICKS to the dash. Don’t know how easy it will be to remove but, on the basis I can change to an ordinary magnetic mount, it should suit any phone.

If you don’t need wireless charging then the second mount works ok on its own.
I am able to use the ESR halo lock to hold the phone in landscape mode.

Hope it helps somebody.

I tried 3d printing a mount that somebody on here helpfully provided free of charge but the mount kept breaking with the weight of an iPhone and the ESR mount on it.

I never really liked the vent mounts as the vents themselves didn't seem very stable - ended up designing this (prototype) mount. Using Apple MagSafe magnets, piggybacking off the infotainments screws on the rear. It is incredibly secure, survived a lap around the Nurburgring, I think that's a good test!

That’s excellent Xondat but I found if I put a phone in that location it fouled the indicators - ok for those moving from Audi/BMW but no good for me.

This is how mine looks and the phone sits in landscape mode

Hi Simon,
I found the vent mounts were too loose.
I also use Waze for navigation and needed the screen higher up.

I’ve tried a few but really settled on the ‘Fernando Alonso’ implementation (somebody posted a video link of him casually sticking his phone in a 110, then somebody else linked to the type of mount - thank you whoever you are, it’s brilliant).

That is:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07X9RQVD4?

Clips onto the (remarkably rigid) key holder cover Like so:

Short journeys I use the phone like this:

Longer journeys when charging the phone I use like this:

It is less good than having the phone at screen level, and may irritate with the charging only in landscape, but for an amazingly cheap, non-invasive option it’s incredibly convenient and remarkably stable (when you budge the phone edges up to the centre console).

MP Rezeau has this (in my view) beautiful aftermarket solution which you can screw onto the dash right behind the Infotainment screen. They have different options including MagSafe.

I thought about this solution but since I am getting a New MY22 A110 I hope that CarPlay will just do the job and I will leave the phone in the storage area below the flying middle tunnel.

If it does not work out well enough though, I thinkI will go for this option.

Looks like it only works properly for LHD - pity, could have been made more versatile. Pricey too.

I bought a quadlock iPhone mount with a case last Black Friday since it wasn’t much more expensive than the cases available from Apple.

Mounted next to the a-pillar, am very happy with it. Perfect for my occasional satnav use, and streaming music over Bluetooth. I don’t find it significantly obstructs my vision, though the a-pillar already does a good job of that on occasion.

It’s very solidly mounted and easy to attach / remove. I’ve not attempted to connect a cable from there, though I do have a longer cable that would reach.

I vote for Nick’s solution! I often thought that a phone holder option making use of the key storage space would be the way to go. Thanks for sharing, appreciated.

Quick Q: how to protect the carbon fibre (if it is that) from being marked by the mounting clip?

All credit to the others who originally posted it, but glad it's useful to pull together here!

The jaws of the clip have rubber pads in them, although having just had a look I have slightly scratched the CF bit (not badly, rub finger over and you can't see them any more). The jaw is ever so slightly wider than the 'dip' in the CF cover, so I might file the edges of the jaw down slightly to mitigate this.

Apologies if I've missed this on the forum, but came across this from Atelier Design Mecanique. https://www.facebook.com/atelierdesignmecanique/ph...

They do a rhd version if you ask via the ebay selling point (search for a110 phone support). They have 2 versions - offset and directly above the touch screen.

Full disclosure: haven't used it as I'm in a 22MY GT and with the new gui etc & I don't really need it. That said, I do have Hoofty's £5 clip as a hangover from when the nav kept dropping out (fixed with upgraded cable)

Yep, I have one of these too. Very simple and ideal for clipping to the key storage space. Used it extensively on our 3 week road trip with no issues at all (iPhone 8) - also means not having to have charge cables snaking all over to reach a windscreen mounted phone holder. The other thing i noticed was it kept the phone cool as it sits in front of the A/C vent but doesn't block it. In the 40+ degree temperatures and running constantly for hours with google maps and spotify I'm sure the phone would have been running very hot otherwise.

At the risk of over egging that solution (which I didn't discover!), I have found that these cables are a superb match for it, the coiled style stays tidy and (maybe this is just me) even have a little 'rally intercom' vibe* about them:

Iphone - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B099NG1TMF/

USB-C - https://www.amazon.co.uk/mcdodo-Charger-Degrees-Co...

*no I can't believe I wrote that, either

Hi All.

I thought I’d share details of the phone holders I bought; they work for my needs, they might not work for others, but such is life’s rich tapestry!

I wanted them lower than the OEM screen. I wanted to keep the small slot clear for other things (like Twix bars!). They latch into the centre vent and twist to pull tight.

I can get to the hazard warning lights switch between the phones and I can get behind or around them to adjust heater controls or to switch stop/start.
