Sena headset too quiet?

Anybody else experienced this? I bought it a while back, really for satnav instructions, have only tried to use it recently. I can’t hear a bloody thing over about 20mph, admittedly my Arai is a bit noisy, but it’s worse than useless at the moment.

Does it have the app. The newer ones have volumes for Bluetooth, mesh, calls and voice command

Make sure all of them are on full volume

Failing that get a hearing test

Make sure the speakers are EXACTLY aligned with your ears. Just a couple of mm out can make a huge difference.

I can’t help with the sena, but I’ve got some auritech ear plugs which I use with my cellularline headset which are supposedly designed for this purpose, I have to say I find them really good, they drown out road noise but let you hear whatever you’re listening too, maybe worth a try for yourself?

if you have an iphone and listen to music a lot then the iphone can redice the volume automatically if you have been listening to music at high volume.
Go to Health> Browse > Hearing and have a look in there

Sena and iPhone - things to check:

Speaker location - had to be spot on.

make sure that the Sena is listed properly as a speaker so that you don’t the volume limit warning.

Check all volumes are max on the phone, either in the Sena App if new enough, or other settings

There may be an audio boost setting you need to turn on.

Quite likely it's just the Bluetooth Audio Volume needs turning up on your phone (typically only possible once the Sena/other bluetooth device is connected) if the Sena headset is already spun to max volume.

I had the same issue. Speakers all ok etc. it’s a feature of Sena, but the app allows you to boost the audio, which is what I did. Now it’s perfect , with audio boost and about 75% volume. I have it on all 3 helmets now.

I've been using a SMH5 for a few years, and yes i agree they are on the quiet side. I actually hear them better with foam ear plugs in.

Sound is hugely improved on mine with earplugs in.
Blocks the wind noise and you can hear the sena speakers much more clearly.

I always wear ear plugs, but the motorcycle specific ones, that have the small hole in the middle for the audio. Without them, wind noise stops you hearing the audio.

I have an Evo20s and this evening despite the volume on the phone being on max and the speaker having been pre-classified as a 'car stereo' in bluetooth settings, it was extremely quiet.

I've now tried setting it as a 'speaker' in iOS settings (I don't see how that would. significantly differ) and will check out the app for the audio boost option when connected. However, it's bloody bizarre behaviour and not very user friendly.

I always plug earbud headphones into mine as the standard velco speakers are a bit too weak.

If i'm going a short distance and might want to take a call then i'll not bother an just use the standard speakers, but i can't hear them well enough at highspeed.

But with headphones plugged in it works really well. I can listen to some tunes and then take a call while riding.

I have an smh10 which infinity installed for me and I initially thought it was junk. Then checked and saw they had installed the headphones behind the liner padding. I popped them out and put them on the inside face Iof the liner so they are right next to my ear and now they're fine, I wear earplugs but they're loud enough on max at 70, not so loud you can't hear what's going on though. Took a few goes to get them into the right places in the liner ear recesses so they were pointing right at my ears and comfy etc but haven't touched them since.
