Using electrolysis to clean donor parts
Discussion
I'm probably about to find out that I'm the only person on the planet still using wire brushes to clean up rusty donor parts, but I found an old thread on locostbuilders that describes using electrolysis to do the job instead and gave it a try. Just in case you all don't already know, it works far far better than sticking a wire brush onto a drill and attacking it for hours on end and its no effort whatsoever... I'll be using it for the rest of my donor bits anyway.
I've only done a hub carrier so far, but theres a pic of it here - http://www.struck-out.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=9

Very interesting d-man. Hadn't heard of that before.
Another alternative I have used is to leave parts soaking in vinegar.
If you're looking for a good paint to use on rusted (or newly de-rusted) parts, POR-15 from Frost (www.frost.co.uk) seems pretty good.
