Selling my car- buyer wants to test drive on trade plates.

I've got someone coming to view my car and when I mentioned that I'll be driving unless he has temporary cover he said he'd bring trade plates and he'd be insured. I've never had this before, anything I need to be wary of?

Is he a motor trader with his own plates? If not, eg he's borrowed a mate's plates, then he won't be covered.

If used correctly trade plates are just a method to tax a vehicle. They do not give insurance cover.

The DVLA won't give you a set unless you can show a motor traders policy,

So he is probably insured unless as somebody suggested above he has borrowed a set of plates.

True, but the plates don't indicate the cover is still in place. They are just a moveable tax disc (to use an out of date phrase )

Probably isn't good enough when it comes to insurance

Cazoo offered me 2k more than WBAC on two cars I recently sold, in both cases more than I paid for them eighteen months before.

Certainly worth getting their price, no messing around with tyre kickers

One assumes the car is "taxed", if so then trade plates are not needed.

Just checked and Cazoo offered me 2.2k less than WBAC, and they don't accept mods which mine does have.
