Nail in run flat
Discussion
I had my year 4 service at the stealers yesterday and they kindly pointed out a nail in my run flat. The TPMS system hasn't notified me of anything. The tyres are still at 5mm so plenty of life in them but looking at the position of the nail would this be repairable being towards the edge. I recall hearing something about the central 3/4 of the tyre being fine to repair.

It is the central 3/4 and looks like you might be within that, best thing to do is take it to a reputable tyre shop and see if they will fix it
Thanks. Just looked on a graphic and it does look to be within it. It's nice to be forewarned before being faced with the inevitable BS. Fix it yourself with a plug kit?

Had exactly the same issue last week, nail pointy end sticking out of the tyre, head end imbedded in the rubber? Took it to my go to tyre dealer, independent not chain and he said new tyre required as it was within an inch of the sidewall reinforcement area, £225 later new tyre fitted and I'm on my way. Would never mess around with tyre safety.
A quick update. I popped down to my trusted old school Indy tyre place and was met with 'we don't repair run flats end of but you can try 'so and so' who I've used before. Likewise same answer from them, they also pointed out the bigger places, pro tyre, kwik fit wouldn't either but said its worth asking around. Absolutely no hard sell or anything like that and I wasn't going to argue, if that's their policy right or wrong its up to them.
However the last place stuck some washing up liquid on it and pulled it out, no leak thankfully. It's got me thinking about finally ditching the run flats on the 340i but that's for another thread.

This. Even if you ditch the fun flats. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TYRE-PUNCTURE-REPAIR-STRI...

It’s easier to plug a tyre.
Well worth having this in your toolbox
