Macan ordering

Looking for other peoples experiences with deliveries of new cars. We are all sharing the frustration of chip shortages and now wiring loop issues due to the war, but we can also see positive news from Porsche saying they are selling a greater numbers of cars even with issues just mentioned. I ordered a Macan S last October with an expected delivery of September this year. These dates may hold firm, but dealers are very vague in saying how many allocations they get, or where you are in the queue for your car build. I see some posts for the same car where they've been ordered last November and already delivered in May this year. I do understand some people may changes their car every year or so, so they will get a priority and get pushed up the queue.

I ordered a Macan GTS in early December last year, with a relatively new dealer in the north west. I'd originally emailed a load of dealers, and this one was the one who quoted the shortest lead time - between 6 and 9 months. Others were already quoting 2023, and those from one particular dealer group didn't respond at all. The dealer I went with were quite open with what position I was in on their order list - I'd asked when ordering, and when they gave me an update a few months later. I had a provisional build date by the end of February. They seem to get an allocation of around 3 Macan GTS cars per quarter.

The car is due for delivery in mid-July. It was originally mid-June, but slipped a couple of times after the Ukraine war broke out. The freeze date was the start of May, and the car is due to be built in mid-June. The freeze date moved up a few days at the last moment, but fortunately I'd made all my specification changes by then.

I've not been too badly affected by component shortages. I've chosen the 18-way seats, and these no longer come with electric steering column adjustment (which I'm not bothered about). The GT-Design wheels I'd originally selected are no longer available (boo), so I've had to change the alloys too.

This will be my first Porsche, so I think I've been very lucky (assuming all goes to plan).

thanks for your update. I hope things go to plan. I didn't do shopping around, but just went to my local dealer who probably take a lot of orders. My neighbour went further afield for his order as the local dealer wasn't interested in changing the tyre options, whilst the one he went to did let him change the tyres for no extra charge. I guess the lesson here is some can give more attention to customers if they're not juggling with a lot of orders.

Two examples from me. Both Macan S’s ordered from same dealership.

Friend ordered his April 21, was told it would arrive by the end of the year. It arrived late Oct. 6 months from deposit to delivery.

My Dad ordered his June 21, was told early 22 for delivery. By January he hadn’t even got a build slot. Issued a slot in Feb, April build for May delivery. Checked with OPC in March, no delays, build still on track. Checked again mid May, build delayed until June, with July delivery. 11 month since deposit, hopefully delivered soon…

that's disappointing in the current climate where I've seen orders in November that have been delivered in May, so there are some discrepancies out there.

I enquired recently with my local OPC who are near to Meadowhall about a new Macan S. I was told 18 months lead time

I was in there Friday

Macan is q3. 2023
Macan s q3 2023
Macan gts q4 2023

They’ve offered me and the wife afternoon tea whilst speccing a gts don’t know if all the opcs do that??

Yes they were very friendly towards me too. Still 18 months ish for delivery though. I’d be bored/dead/bought 3 other cars by then!

Depends where the FFS model fits into the range, is it above the GTS ?

On the assumption that you have a have a few quid, put the £3k deposit down, buy something else and then make your mind up in a year or so. The deposit is refundable prior to confirmed delivery date and in reality right up to physical delivery as in the current market the OPC would love for you to cancel (assuming it's not Miami blue with body colored wheels!).
I asked about an RSQ3 and was told 9 months, it's not just Porsche.

It would be nice to hear from people who actually got a delivery this year and know when they actually put their order in. Good to build a picture up on how things have slipped from the early orders of 2021 to the later orders last year.

In case useful: Placed deposit July last year. Spec locked early Nov. Car delivered mid Jan.

Ordered my Macan T is early March and collecting tomorrow.

The OPC had 7 allocations to fill for April/May when I placed my deposit.

I believe 2.0l cars are arriving sooner and was a key reason for me choosing the T. Was looking at a GTS originally.

May still place an order when I go in tomorrow.

What is the short term depreciation like on the latest Macan S. I can get a prespecced one in about 8 weeks, but the spec is a bit light. Are these holding their values well if I try sell if/when I find something with a more desirable spec or get a factory order.

Or I could buy a demonstrator with better spect at list price (ie no discount but I would be the second owner)

Buy what you like , it does not matter any more , 2 years from now petrol will be 3 pounds a litre to encourage to buy electric when the rates will go up per kWh
Its the “illuminati” to coin an expression who will decide all
So in summary just enjoy what you like .We must live every day not wait for a day to do somehthing

With the rate that fuel is increasing around 10p a month we will nearly be at £3 a litre by the end of the year.
I took advantage of high secondhand price demand and sold my car whilst i wait for my new one (mid 2023) and bought a little vw polo run around .
This now costs £75 to fill .
With the ways things are going at the moment increased cost of living and the interest rate increases due to curb inflation im now having second thoughts about my new car?
Are others having the same thoughts?
