Myself isolation finds me watching all sorts of ste and tonight countryfile. oh man what a right on, do good program this has become. Does anyone actually watch it who on earth is it aimed at?

when i was a lad it was actually about farming mostly and for someone from that background interesting enough (it was also on a sunday morning) but this is some sort of one showesque right on 'modern' causes bore fest.to cap it all Sarah Storey saying most country road shouldnt be NSL.

Awful stuff.

I think it tried to reinvent itself, and appeal to a wider audience.

Dunno if it succeeded, but it definitely lost >95% of its previous audience.

I like the bits with Adam Henson on his farm, and the weather forecast for the week. Other than that, the rest of it is mostly nonsense. And this week's wasn't as bad as many weeks have been.

Don’t generally mind Countryfile, but hardly ever watch it now. But the one person I can’t stand is Matt Baker who featured prominently in tonight’s episode. It’s his “I’m really Northern, I am” accent which is even more exaggerated when he does a voiceover. I suspect the BBC like him as a presenter because grannies think he’s ‘a nice young man’

I never realised so many bleeding celebrities have a farm, I'm sick of all the programmes in which celebs are paid a lot to show off their vanity projects (with the exception of the Jeremy Clarkson series, which was excellent)

I used to quite like the Countryfile
But when did it stop being about the countryside?
Tuned in a few times recently. Every single time it’s been about a good cause / hardships/ disability / etc
All worthy causes.
But divorced from the show which was viewed & enjoyed in the past.
The Countrysude should focus upon the countryside & leave the other stuff to their own time slots.

It's better they watch it on the telly than get out and about trespassing, letting their dogs worry sheep, lighting fires and causing environmental damage, blocking access to people's homes because they can't be bothered to find a proper car park. The list goes on and on.

But yes, quite why it's called Countryfile I have no idea.

As someone that watches in nearly every week, I'd say it's because it's generally about the countryside. Yes, it's not so much about farming anymore but it is still about the countryside.

It has been getting increasingly preachy over the last few years.

It's becoming almost an Extinction Rebellion propaganda show at times.

Later in the month there's an edition on inclusive farming. For the benefit of those townies without a clue, there's nature-inclusive, and people-inclusive. Guess which this is (and it's not the nature one ).

I remember a proper farming programme in the 1970s, that used to be on ITV at Sunday lunchtimes. It used to have fertiliser adverts.

I don't think I'm imagining it, help me out here...

They had a clear out a few years ago of some stalwart presenters (i recall there being a hooh hah about it over ageism etc.).

We used to watch it all of the time…. don’t bother now
