Power cuts - Shut off EV chargers first?

So millions are warned that we may have power cuts this winter because of energy shortages, potentially a failure of our government on a criminal level, My suggestion is - should we cut off EV charging points first, so that the available electricity can be better prioritised? No doubt it will upset the smug, preachy early adopters of a technology that is unfit for purpose, and which is never likely to be the solution. I also wonder whether extended energy shortages could mean a reprieve for the ridiculous plans to ban ICE engine production from 2030.

Unfit for purpose? Really? Never likely to be the solution? What about although those electric car buyers who think its definitely the solution?

Yes, most people charge at night when the demand for electric is minimal hence why its bloody cheap. That would kill BEV over night.
I wouldn't have an issue in my home charger being turned off at peak times during the day to be honest if the network was struggling.

Plenty of people still manage to Facebook from their phone during a power cut.Appreciate this is a complete trolling post, but as it goes domestic supplies tend to be the last thing to go when you're load shedding - it's the big factory/industry users that will go off first and may already be under an agreement to do as such.
This tends to be after you've exhausted less obtrusive demand reduction and thrown as many of your short term operating reserves on.
I would wager that EVs are a tiny amount of current UK load, even an peak times too.
All that being said the government should have made a decision on nuclear donkeys ago - that's probably a failing of both the blue and the red side of the chamber.

I think some of you have sort of sussed me out. It is a genuine news story and someone may have to make decisions about prioritising energy usage (which can be done in many ways). It wasn't trolling ( there can be a nasty side to that), but possibly at the back of my mind it may have been a gentle wind up of the EV brigade
