I'm genuinely unsure where to put this but I'll have a go ....

We have a telegraph pole on our driveway. It was installed before we bought the house.

In February, a company called Netomnia arrived to install new fibre broadband to the telegraph pole. We were not notified in advance; I noticed guys parking on the drive and went out to ask what they were doing. All was courteous but no permission was asked and no paperwork signed.

The work took a couple of days. They dug up about 2ft of tarmac on our drive and dislodged a line of decorative bricks that denote the edge of the drive. The new tarmac looks out of place, is not level and is not sealed correctly and the bricks have not been lined up correctly.

Since then I have had repeated contact with their Build Queries team, someone has been out to look at it and agreed that the work wasn't up to scratch and needs to be done again but nothing more. I have been told that the problems have been resolved, which was clearly untrue and they accepted this.

I'm now a bit fed up with it all and keen to contact someone more senior. The wonders of the internet will give me the name of their "customer experience team" (Aimee Ross) and the name of their CEO (Jeremy Chelot) but not the eMail addresses of either of them.

If anyone happens to have an eMail address for someone senior in Netomnia then I'd be grateful if you could pass it on, OR if you know the form of the corporate eMail addresses (<firstname>.<surname>@netomnia.com doesn't work) then that would be equally useful.

Or any other suggestions about how to contact them, other than writing a formal letter and posting it (which feels quite slow for a technology company!)

Thanks.

They should be governed by Utility regs and the New Roads and Streetworks Act. They are definitely covered by OfGem and that might be a route https://www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-stateme... but I would start with the Highways department at your local council.

Additionally have you tried Twitter and other forms of social media?

Guys,

Thanks for the replies. Your Dad has come up with the goods; it is indeed <firstname>@netomnia.com. Aimee Ross (aimee@netomnia.com) has replied to my eMail and is making the right noises.

CollectingBrass - thanks, that's helpful stuff. I'll definitely bear that in mind when/if the rectification work here is not done as it should be.

You have far more patience than me, since Feb. I would have disconnected the cables until they agreed to sort the mess out. Gets them around very quickly.

Erm, thanks for the offer. I think that they are a local company based in Tewkesbury ... and you seem to be in Honkers. Maybe there are two companies with the same name!

Ah, gotcha!

I think that their London address is probably just for show; they are based in Tewkesbury and their staff are all there.

(Of course, if you ever happen to be in or near Tewkesbury then drop me a line - I'll happily stand you a beer!)

Thanks for your help.

Quick follow-up: Netomnia (or their 'Build Partner') have now come by and done a tidy job of the repair to the drive. The 'Head of Customer operations' has proved to be very helpful and her eMail address is indeed in the form <firstname>@netomnia.com (many thanks to Your Dad for the suggestion.)

I'm considering the matter to be closed. Thanks again to everyone for their help!

Considering that you only contacted Aimee on Tuesday and we have since had a four day weekend, that's a pretty impressive response time. Pleased it has been resolved.

Very much so. Given that their on-line 'Customer Services Team' had been not solving the problem for five months or so it was good to have it dealt with so quickly when I got a bit more shouty.

It actually gets even more impressive .... the day after contacting the aforementioned Aimee they had someone come and take the original repair out and replace it with an identical (and identically substandard) repair. Further grumbles took place and today they took Repair#2 out and put Repair#3 in, which is all to a much higher standard. Either Aimee has some big boots or they are willing to spend a lot of money to keep me happy! smile

slightly off subject but pole generally means a wayleave payment written into your deeds with access etc, worth checking this as you might actually be owed some money.

andburg,

Thanks. It's a relevant point and something I've half-heartedly looked into. The pole in question is a pain in the neck and I'd dearly love to have it moved but OpenReach want an obscene sum to even look at the thing. Whether there is a Wayleave or not is the big question; there was no mention of one when we bought the place 18 months ago and I need to look into it in some detail.

Thanks for the prompt!

In our last house a pole in the corner of our front garden (no inconvenience, but an eyesore) earnt us £11.32p/year for 23 years.

It was usually 'double paid' every 2 years.

GranpaB - Gloucestershire.

GlosPhil - thanks. My preferred outcome would be to find that there is no Wayleave for it and to remove it as it's in the way, but I guess that a bit of money each year is better than no money!
