Just binge watched this and it’s rather good!
Being in my mid 50’s I’m slightly to young to have been part of it but I do remember my parents and the New of the Worlds outrage of “God save the Queen”, and loving i!.
It’s characters are fairly accurate and it’s a really good reminder of how st the 70s were and how you could cause genuine outrage by using a few bad words!
The youth of today have no idea hehe

Need to get my sister-in-law to record it for me as we don't have the Disney channel.

I was in the Christmas Day gig episode, a boiling hot couple of days last Summer in '70s polyester and nylon. hehe

It's not John Lydon's version of events, in fact he went to court to try and stop the series being made. I would have preferred his input...Irvine Welsh has a way of using the same base characterisations in most of his movies/TV series. I hope that's not the case here.

Will watch this purely because lydon was not involved. Just imagine him framing everything through whatever he currently thinks
this week or minute.
Its quite funny how he was seething with outrage but in the end could do nothing to stop it.
Based on the steve jones book anyway.

Indeed, they absolutely hated it.

Father Christmas looked odd walking down New Cross Gate in the heat. hehe

Did you mean Danny Boyle who directed it?

I think it’s great. I don’t like the Sex Pistols. Really well filmed.

There was nothing really new that I hadn’t heard before although the Chrissie Hynde connection was either one I’d forgotten or didnt know.

Some reason for your animosity towards Lydon? (you wouldn't be the first), seems a shame the perspective of the bands main songwriter and frontman wasn't included though.

Johnny wouldn't have anything to do with The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle either, for being a depiction of a total untruth.

I think I'd go with his version myself.

I still have an original 7' of God Save The Queen smile

I thought they got the casting fairly spot on!

Very enjoyable Nostalgia

Glen Matlock was on GMB this morning (!) and he said that he’d told Steve Jones that’d he’d got a very poor memory!

Glen Matlock played at my local back in February 2020 along with Earl Slick.

That Earl Slick can certainly play the guitar, my word!

Really enjoying this. Brodie-Sangster is excellent, he’s come a long way since “Love Actually “

I've seen Glen Matlock perform a few times and met him twice. He's very talented and seems a genuinely nice guy.......for a QPR fan.

Not sure what to make of it really, everything is done (obviously) from Jones’ viewpoint with him being the central character in every scene. I can see why Lydon didn’t want it screened, he (nor the rest of the band) isn’t shown in a particularly favourable light, especially with Jones seemingly the golden boy throughout.

McLaren, from everything I’ve seen of him through the media over the years, seems absolutely spot on as a complete and utter bell, but the rest of it? Bit one sided for me I think.
