986 respray cost
Discussion
I'm in a quandary with our MY2000 3.2S.
The Guards red paint lacquer coating has suffered badly on most of the panels and the paint has also faded. There is also rust bubbling under the windscreen rubber and so needs a complete respray. I've had a quote for £3.5-4K (in case there are any unknowns after stripdown) from a local reputable shop.
Does anyone have any experience of respray costs in Warwickshire/Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire?
I don't know whether to pay for the paintwork to be done and then sell, get it done and keep it, or sell it as is.
Any advice appreciated.

I wouldn't bother paying for a respray only to then sell it. 986 values don't really justify it (you're not going to get a 2-3-4k higher sale price by having it resprayed).
In terms of bodyshops, have a chat with JF Bodyworks in Wendlebury, Bicester (not far from Autofarm). He does the paintwork for Theon designs (or at least did do when I spoke to him a few years ago) and can do proper metalwork (rather than just slapping filler over things).

Thanks for the information.
Yes, you've confirmed what I was thinking that a respray then sell is not the answer
It's just a decision whether to keep it. Unfortunately I only have outside parking so may face the same problems in future.
I'm not a fan of a cover as I've had scratched paint in the past from using them but maybe necessary.
I've also been recommended a company called Classics 1963 in Evesham, anyone had any experience of them?
