E90 318I SE,2007

my car has just started showing the engine management light.

According to the hand book because it is amber not red it is ok to drive.
It is running fine,NOT down on power.

I am confused as to what it could be.It is going into a specialist next week to be plugged in .
Has anyone any ideas what is the likely cause please?

It could be any number of things - until you get the fault codes read it's just guess work.

The fact it isn't running badly or misfiring is positive at least

Could be one of many sensors, lambda/cat sensor etc.
