Hats off to Channel 5, I never thought it’d be possible to make clickbait TV.

The private parking ones are so easy to get off of, more a tax on fools I'd say.

If you want to go to the local town, but don’t want to pay parking, ALL you need to do if find a private car park, and park there without a second thought.

If they dare ask you to pay a fine, there are various people who will gleefully help you avoid paying anything, as you are clearly the victim of some form of witch hunt.

To hold you liable as keeper of the car, there's a very simple piece of legislation (Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) that parking companies are very poor at actually following. They're also not very good at writing signs using clear language and actually maintaining those signs. Lots of other reasons they can be beaten.

I've fought 5 now and I'm 5-0 up against the parking companies (only one was mine, others for friends and family). Two were sent too late, one was on land where POFA didn't actually apply and the car was never parked anyway (at an airport, driver took a wrong turn through a drop off area and got a parking charge). All of those were dropped by the parking company at initial appeal, on basic points of law.

Two others went to the independent adjudicator POPLA. One, the parking company (Parking Eye, a biggie) didn't bother replying to my evidence that their "clear and obvious" signage was missing/damaged/hidden by bushes. And the last, the parking company had pictures of a car driving in and out of the car park but couldn't prove it was ever actually parked. That one went all the way to POPLA, who sided with me.

That’s all well and good, but who wants all that carry on every time you park your car? I’ve successfully appealed 2 over the years, one for me and one for my daughter and it was a bit of a ball ache each time.

This. Life is complicated enough without looking for problems. Even if you win.
