Not sure if this is a function of declining interest in cars or the declining interest in forums compared to other social media. Even Facebook is not popular among the young I am told.
The car is no longer the critical coming-of-age path to freedom and meeting people it once was. I know many people in their teens and twenties who have not taken their driving test. It was one of my great priorities .

This is a good point, it was also a seminal moment for me when I passed my driving test. The new sense of freedom was incredible, not to mention the new opportunities with the ladies. The cars of the 60s and 70s, although not as good as modern cars, also had real character and personality. My first car was a Rover 2000 with a Webasto sunroof, I couldn't afford it as an apprentice. My second car was a 3.4 Mk 2 Jag I also couldn't afford. I'm not sure what's changed. I think as a 17 year old I would not have been inspired by a Corsa or a Yaris, whereas a mk 1 or mk 2 Cortina would have done me nicely. . The increase in traffic (population) has removed much of the enjoyment as well. They don't know what they are missing, perhaps we had the best of it from the 1950s to the 1990s? I was a member of a very very busy car forum about 10-15 years ago, good place for relevant infoSomeone set up a Facebook group with a similar name and it literally went from 1000s of posts to day to 1 or 2 a week in a year
Also, 20 year olds today have it tough - we’ll certainly compared with me when I was 20 and my dad when he was 20 (however my grandad had a rough time when he was 20 )

But I rarely come on here because I’m out doing graffiti, wearing caps backwards and blaring music out of my Saxo. Or at least that what the average user on PH thinks we do
I’m a perfectly normal person (honest) the reason PH is unpopular with people my age is because Instagram and FB groups are far more common and are more oriented to the kind of cars popular with my age groups. E.g. Scene, drifting.
I am a member of FB groups too but I prefer the OEM+ style so I fit in more here. My mates drive everything from interesting stuff like an A35 AMG, to a straight piped Fabia VRS diesel that sounds like a machine gun, E36 318iS, various BMW E92’s to a Vauxhall corsa diesel and a Hyundai Getz. And a lot of these people do browse here, but a lot don’t care enough to post.

I had a 911S in my twenties which was a rusted out shed and cost me about £600 I think. Scrapped after but at least I had an shot at a sports car. Would not have lasted 30 secs at MOT but it was in IrelandGassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
