Well, sold the M2C 5 weeks ago, a combination of factors including whopping cashback (got nearly as much as I paid for it NEW 3 years ago), kids growing up fast, dog, wife needing something more comfortable for her long trips. Was a real wrench, probably the best BMW I've ever had (bar the E46 CSL). Where do you go after such a machine (within reason £-wise!).
After saving about 37 bajillion different searches in Autotrader, I went full circle and back to my original thought - F36 GC.
Well, I picked up a 68 plate 440 CG from Sytner last week. Sure, it's nowhere near as focussed as the M2C, not as fast, doesn't induce that grin, but my goodness it does so many things so well. Just been on a mini-break, 400 miles there and back averaging 42.5mpg (not doing that again, proper pansy driving, just did it to see what I COULD max the mpg our at cf. the M2, which was about 36). Kids loving the masses of extra legroom, dog happy, wife happy, loads of luggage space (also got three doors into it for the tip run), and the B58 is mega. All for £27k. Decision of the head rather than the heart, and it's a shame it's a newer one with the OPF so not much I can do via MPPSK, but it'll definitely be a keeper for a couple of years until circumstances change again!
So, in short, there's life after the M2C for current owners that are tearing their hair out knowing time's coming to an end at some point
Just a different style of life

interesting.. We had a 435i GC on a 15 plate back in the day. Chopped that in for a new F80 M3 Comp and while that car was so impressive, both the wife and I seriously missed the GC. As you say, does so many things so well and with adaptive dampers it was easily the most comfortable ride I've ever had from a BMW.
We still say to this day "probably the best BM we've owned" - and we've owned nothing else but BM's since 2000.

Interesting.
I went M2 to a Yeti TDI, with a bike engined kit car plus a trailer.
The M2 was great, but didn't excel at anything, whereas the Yeti is great for the practical stuff, and the kit car (when it arrives, as it's not here yet) should be ace on track. And i'm keeping my Clio 200 for now to use as a B-road blaster and occasional track toy.

Yeah it's mad, I thought I'd hate whatever came afterwards, and don't get me wrong I *do* miss the snarl and aggression, muscular looks etc the M2C gave, BUT (and maybe it's my age!) it doesn't feel like it's the end of the world not having that any more. The biggest frustration of M cars is the lack of time if you're driving it as a daily that you can actually make it realise its potential, without resorting to track days etc.

Totally agree with this. I'm nearing 50 now and the F80 was great but I found myself annoyed with the ride most of the time. I definitely need something more civilised to daily. For the 3 years I owned the F80 I only put 10k miles on it. Mostly due to Covid I guess but for the entire ownership I felt like I was wasting it.I'm hoping the M135 (on order) will suit my current needs much better. I don't need a big car now (kids have mostly deserted us now) and at my age I'm not racing around the streets as much as I used to.
