Hi everyone, first post but long time reader. I was hoping that the members could give me some advice.

I ordered a new RR Evoque (p300e) on 31/3/22 on PCP - at that time lead times were between 6 - 9 months and the estimated delivery date on the order is 21/9/22. It is to replace my current leased car which expires on 1/12/22.

The dealer has been in contact and has now confirmed a build date of 1/7/22 with delivery to the dealer later in July.

I am checking with the current lease company but expect they will charge me for an early return of my current car (probably c£1,000 if its 50% of the outstanding rentals). The LR dealer has said I can place a new order but that would be at the current price and finance terms so likely more expensive and they are still quoting 6-9 months delivery so no guarantee I would have the car for December.

It seems to me its a choice between accepting the car and paying early repayment charges or agree a deal on a new order. I assume the LR dealer will move the deposit over to the new car and not try to keep it on the basis I haven't accepted the car for delivery but haven't got into that yet.

Thoughts welcome!

Ask the dealer if they will hold the car until September in line with the original delivery estimate. You'll also benefit from the plate change.

You were going to have to pay an early return for a couple of months anyway on the lease car. (i.e. Sept-Dec)

By returning the lease early you might mitigate having to pay costs such as the annual service or MOT etc.

As above - ask the dealer to delay the deal and hold the car until the original estimated delivery date.

Did you not mention on here that you were on holiday and out of the country from late July for 6 weeks ? - all arranged around the estimated delivery date

Have both? Run the current one till the lease ends and get the new one early, if your gonna be paying out for early returns you might as well get something for it instead.

Thanks for the replies, asking them to keep the car until the original delivery date seems to be the best plan and then benefit from the plate change.
