Assuming I could care less what the mileage is, what’s not to like?

Looks good to me assumng the chassis is good.

I don't think it's that cheap given the milage and the interior color might not be to everyones taste.

"Chassis is not a showpiece but is very solid. Outriggers have been done at some point in its past."

= in clear words--> it will sooner or later (i guess very soon) need some chassis work --> means body off.....

102k miles in total---- engine rebuilt at 70k......but suspension parts, gearbox, diff.....?

leather in seats cracked......

i would rather buy a 400 or 430 with lower miles and full-renovated chassis for this money.

No catch really, seems about right for a reasonably tidy 450.
The mileage is a barrier for most.
May have had a new set of crank bearings and a cam thrown in but sometimes this is all they need.

There's an early 500 (L reg) for sale on the Chimaera Facebook page at the moment with 40k on the clock, owned for 17 years and up for £12k.

Nothing to do with me, just saw it and thought of this thread. smile

That's not a dear car.

Back last October I paid less for a 450 that now has 101k on it and still pulls like a train with good oil pressure.

Anyone looking for a Chimaera needs to get past this 100k 'barrier' in their head. These cars have always loved being driven. They hate sitting in a garage doing 3k a year.

Mine had all sorts of niggles when I got it because it had sat for four years and done 1k miles in all that time. I've sorted the bits that needed doing and now she's an absolute honey.

Get it bought, looks great. as Mr Smoke says the mileage is irrelevant if its been fettled along the way - it wouldn't have done the mileage if it didnt work.

my car has also improved with my regular use of it. it hadn't done much for a few years prior to my ownership.

Nothing wrong with high mileage the cars are hardly 10 years old after all confused use em of lose em , go look at the car looks good and its cheap, longer you procrastinate less likely to get a good one @ the right price

This is the question

That is the catch

I would have thought its standard practice for an engine bay pic in a TVR ad.

For another couple grand you could buy what has to be one of the fastest Chimaeras in the country wink

No its not mine... mines a keeper
