Looking for some guidance please:

Wife's looking for a little more from zoom her Targa 4S. According to the Spec. sheet it currently has 450BHP, she'd like to achieve 500. Also looking for a bit more ceremony (noise).

Grateful for direction on respected places for a re-map and ideas for a new exhaust. Thanks.

As per other threads, went to see if a 992 would suit her, but seemingly unavailable, so she decided to keep her current one (phew).

Thanks

Litchfield Motors would be a good place to start.

If Litchfield too far 9e maybe worth a shout too. They get 580bhp with just a flash. No need to do anything else. Both these indies good for tuning. Just seen its your wife car. I was in exactly the same position. Just bought her a 991 turbo s. She's not asked for any more power since biggrin

Thanks. I looked at Litchfield a while ago and was not confident in what I was looking at on their website so pinged them without getting a reply. Will try again.

Nice move on the Turbo migration……I figure it will be cheaper to modify what she currently has.

Both firms are excellent - visited both when thinking of tuning our old C4S - try this iain@litchfieldmotors.com. These 991/992 all come with similar drivetrains in different states of tune. Avoid off the shelf tunes in my experience. And do not bother with all the exhaust , intercoolers , intake mods. These newer turbo 911s very tuneable straight out of the box without any hardware changes.

Wife about to give it the beans at a wet Knockhill. She gave the M2 that was out at the same time a run for its money.

This is the car she wants to upgrade.

I personally wouldn’t fiddle it. Sell it and buy a used turbo cabriolet for the same money.

I think the targa looks so nice. I just looked at 991.2 turbo s cab prices and they're actually a pretty rare beast by way of example far less than they delivered 991 GT3s to UK. £130-£145k for a nice 2018 one. I didn't pay that much more for a new one in 2018 yikes

PS I think she needs a GT3!

Ah yes....a GT3. But she really enjoys the Targa roof and the current one already feels a little stiff for long journeys.

As noted, a Carrera might not be a practical alternative, hence the 4s upgrade direction.....she's starting to talk cosmetic changes as well as the power/exhaust mods..

I suspect she's mentally noted the cost to change to a 992 GTS Targa and feels she can justify a larger upgrade budget on account of it still being cheaper than a new car. She also likes her 991.2.....cannot fault that logic.

I think she's a very smart cookie.

Car looks gorgeous as is. As good as 9e, Litchfield etc are I'd really leave stock as other have suggested. Maybe a set of lw wheels, exhaust , intercoolers and remap etc actually make the car a bit louder and less likely to pass noise tests. The thing is. If a real fast driver on track in a remapped car they're often slower than stock after one lap due to heat soak on turbo cars. Hence the suggestion of upgrading. The way POrshe has tune your car it will always give the quoted bhp fig. As soon as you tune one lap you may get 600bhp next lap 550bhp ,next last 500bhp etc. Always a trade off unless Porsche do the tuning. Worth a chat with JZM too. They're Manthey specialists. wink
