Noticed there wasn't a thread for this, so thought I'd start one.

Ordered one - a 3 Hybrid in Cityscape Green - last week. I understand it has already been shipped and is due early July.

No options, apart from colour, so not much else to add at the moment.

Very nice. Our Niro EV MY2023, also in green, is due in September.

Disappointed with the limited options on the UK spec cars.

Niro EV road tests/reviews now out. Seems to be well received. If it was on my company car list a month ago (it wasn’t sadly, presumably because it hadn’t been through our fleet system by then) I’d have been tempted.

My Niro is with the dealer. However, on ordering it I said that if it was any later than 8th July, we'd collect it in September as we are off on holiday shortly until August and there is no point in collecting it for it to just sit on the drive, so we'd wait for the 72 plate.

Collected at lunchtime, drives well - in and out of EV mode at around town speeds.

How are you finding the Niro? Our car was due to be collected 3 weeks ago but failed the PDI for paint defects and has now been sent to KIA HQ for inspection.

It has been great so far. Doing around 50mpg for each drive, which currently have been mostly shorter drives max 20 miles. I'll be interested to see the consumption over a longer drive. As posted before, the switch between electric and ICE is very smooth. My wife finds the Sat Nav really good, comes with traffic at no extra cost.

Good leg room in the rear seats, much more room than my Mazda 6, which is surprising. Boot space is OKish - good for shopping, not so sure about a family holiday - when you are used to a larger size.

The only real downside is that the car seemingly bings and bongs for everything - apart from informing the driver when they are exceeding the speed limit. It only changes the numbers in the dashboard speed limit sign from black to red, no noise at all. This is stupid as you do not look at this symbol, and an audible signal that you are speeding would be much better.

Might sound daft, but I would have hesitated to buy the car in the first place if I had known this beforehand, as it was for my wife, and she does tend to drive faster than she should. Her previous car (Mazda 2) used to shout at her - "You are exceeding the speed limit".

Collection day is tomorrow after an extended delay to find a replacement car (the first one was damaged on delivery). We've gone for the full BEV, our first EV, so should be interesting.

Still disappointed with the spec of UK cars, even the LV4 trim. I have recently discovered that the Niro can record video from the built-in cameras, but this function is disabled for the UK market. No obvious reason that I can see as the hardware must already be in the car. Cannot be a legal reason either as the dealer will happily supply an aftermarket dashcam. I have raised this with KIA UK but they have not given an answer.

Interesting - I wonder if you can plug in a diagnostic tool and turn them on?

Might see if there are any visible options over the weekend with my Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 that I bought a few years back

Any owners have worthwhile updates on what the Niro EV is like to live with?

I suspect very easy, but would be interested to hear. I'm most interested in ride quality and range.

Had the Niro EV since last Septmeber, its not exciting but its super easy to live with, two young kids and it does 95% of our driving work. Range in the summer is spot on if not above the advertised.

Climate can be a little tempramental at random but on/off sorts that, bar that its been fault free.

Niro EV since Nov 2022, 6k miles in now. All very positive, drives well, comfortable, averages circa 4mi/kw on mixed-used motorway/town (nearer 3 in winter), reasonably quick. Self-driving tools are a bit hit-and-miss, radar is overly sensitive to other cars. Our real-world range is around 260 miles.

Would happily recommend it though.

We've had ours for just over a year & 9k miles.

My wife has added a few scratches, but is very pleased with it.

We had an engine management light come on one morning, a couple of days before we flew off on holiday. There was an error message on the diagnostics, but cannot remember what it was. Booked in for the week after we returned, by which time it had gone out. Dealer said that there was a recall for it (along with a few others), so all was good now.

I'm still annoyed that the car does not audibly tell the driver when she is speeding.

I am interested to know on the infotainment system, with the Hybrid screen, what does the "electric motor use" section actually show. It would be useful if it showed the usage of electricity that the car has used during a journey - but I know it doesn't show this as the number jumps around all over the place.

Mrs 48k is looking to replace her Picanto with something a bit bigger and the Niro has come on to our radar as a possible upgrade. Grabbed a brochure from the dealer yesterday when picking her car up from a service. One thing I wanted to clarify - do the media controls double up as the aircon/ventilation controls? So you get real physical buttons and dials to control the heating? One thing that annoys me about my XC40 BEV is that the aircon/heating controls are all done on the touch screen which is frustrating when driving.

Yes. Of sorts. The media and climate controls share the same “buttons” and dials. You just need to flit between them. Be aware that the “buttons” (including the one to switch over between media and climate) are still touch sensitive rather than proper physical items, so still more touchscreen than tactile.
