Last year me and my wife left the UK and were granted residency/tax status in another country (EU), our accountant was meant to sort the paperwork but it ended up getting passed along the line to the admin team who didn't do anything, so I paid my self assessment tax just to make sure there was no fines and my wife who is an employee of the company has paid some tax on her income in this period too. We are now due to pay tax in Spain for the same period and our accountant here has informed us a rebate should be possible due to the double taxation scheme.

Does anyone how what we need to fill in for this or even a company who offers this service?

Having looked online there is all sorts of info and documents but most lead back to the P85, do we just updated our residency status and the date this took place to get a rebate?

Register with HMRC to complete a self assessment tax return for the relevant year and submit it.
