Steering Wheel
Discussion
I’m thinking of getting a steering wheel for my 7 year old. At the moment he either plays NFS/ Gran Tourismo on the PS4 or Forza Horizon 4/ Forza 7 on the XBox one X.
Is it possible to get a wheel that’s compatible with both consoles?
If not then any recommendations on which console I should get the steering wheel for?

Unfortunatly as far as I know you won’t find a wheel that will do both consoles. Can’t advise which console version to go for though, depends which one he like playing more I guess!
Good budget wheels are the Logitech g series - if you want a PlayStation one I’ve got one I’m looking to move on..

Logitech g29 with pedals. Maybe even a gear shifter as well. Bought 2nd hand is a good financial investment. If it doesn't work out you can pass them back off for the same money.
I just got hold of a Logitech G923 with pedals open but never used for £200. It is just a slightly more advanced G29.
The reason the wheels are not compatible with both is that the PS compatible wheel has a PS button on it and the Xbox has the Xbox button. This is in keeping with all the compatible controllers for each console.
Have a think about where he would sit with a wheel. Have you got a desk setup that is suitable to attach a wheel or are you thinking about buying some sort of metal frame and seat.
I have PS and Xbox and PC and chose a wheel that is PS and PC compatible. Any of the xbox games I want to play I can play through the Xbox app on the pc or steam anyway. Currently I am cruising around on Forza Horizon 5 though I was enjoying the cheaper older Horizon 3 but my G923 doesn't seem immediately compatible with the older game without some faffing.
Be good to see if Terry Tibbs could do you a deal.

Mines the g923, so for some games (Gran turismo is one of them) it’s got an extra feature called trueforce. It’s basically haptic feedback through the wheel - engine rpm, kerb rumble, stuff like that. It actually adds to the experience quite well. Mines a year old and has seen gentle use, happy to do you a good deal on it see it go to a good home.
Thanks for the responses, I probably should have said that I don’t need to get a top of the range steering wheel, my sons only 7.
With regards to setup etc, I had not thought that far ahead, I’ve got a small nest of tables so maybe I could attach the wheel to a small table, he is normally sitting on the sofa when playing currently.

Most come with clamps so you can fix it onto a desk or table.
The cheapest wheels (£100 or so) won’t have force feedback - so it’s literally turn the wheel but you won’t get any feedback. My youngest has one like that and it’s ok but something like a Logitech is a big step up, if you can stretch to a force feedback wheel it’s worth I reckon.
