Anyone know of any, shall we say friendly, Mot places in Surrey ? Thinking more along the lines of certain missing items that can have an...ahem...impact on emissions...whistle

Cars been off the road a couple of years so no current mot. Its normally done by the guys at Str8six, but I'd rather not try and travel all that way from Surrey. Appreciate you can drive to a booked mot, but thats sort of taking the pee I reckon as its close to 75 miles.

PM me if its easier and you'd rather not say on a public forum of course !!

There is no limit in law to how far you can drive to a pre-booked MOT.

I would say the reason for your choice of tester is that they are TVR specialists and a TVR is a specialist car.
So if it does fail you can leave it with them to fix.

Totally appreciate that.

Just can't get my head around trying to explain to a copper who's stopped me why I'm travelling that far seeing as Id have past probably 20 other mot stations enroute. An mot is just an mot after all.

Perhaps I'm being too cautious laugh

Just make sure you have an emailed booking confirmation with you in the car. Do NOT travel without it.
As said above, you need to go to a specialist because if it fails it is stuck where you had it tested, and normal garage monkeys are not suitable.

I know it sounds wrong to consider this, but the main users of 'friendly' MOT garages are young car modders with their silly exhausts and chav mods. See if you can find a local FB group or forum to engage with

I always take mine to Ashvale MOT centre at link below. They know what they are doing and have always done a good job. I believe that TVR 101 get theirs done there - or at leas they used to, so the centre is used to seeing TVRs various. To boot, you can book online and they don’t charge the maximum rate.
