It’s particularly galling when you hear of the record profits fuel suppliers BP, Shell & oil refineries are making.. £billions! Government tax & VAT takes the large proportion of what we pay.. Many people are struggling to eat, put on heating or run their car. And yet there are ‘people’ getting very, very rich on the back peoples misery..

At least it'll do over 300 miles to a tank.

219.9 p/litre is a rip off.

It’s about 170p at Costco and for my car certainly I just no longer fill it locally and even though it’s 30 miles away I can usually find an excuse to be in that area at some point.

I’m old enough to remember when you’d pass a petrol station to get to the next one because it was a couple of pence a gallon less.

"oil refineries are making.. £billions!"

Elsewhere in the world maybe. The 1 Scottish refinery is losing around £5000000+ per month.

I remember sticking a fiver in my CG125 on giro day, it'd last me the fortnight to the next giro.... but that was not yesterday!

£29.96 to fill the tank at Morrisons this week, a new record. Two years ago it would've been less than half that, where will we be this time next year, £45?

Just quoting what I heard on the news.. At the end of the day, oil giants are making a killing, the government too! That 5p reduction recently did nothing, and quite a few fuel suppliers didn’t even pass that on!

Pinch of salt time.

No company would keep a site open that was running those losses; the redundancy, disassembly and environmental clean up would cost them less.

Not really. Motorway services have massive overheads and we all know they're expensive before we go. We're paying a premium for convenience. The price would be clearly advertised and no one's holding a gun to your head. A bit a forward planning and motorway services can usually be avoided. I've been driving 42 years and have rarely had to buy fuel at motorway services.

Lexmoto Michigan (it was cheap, getting a few miles in before doing my big bike tests!)

10.25 litres @ £1.849 was £18.97!

I appreciate it does 93 miles to the gallon but that's still expensive!

"The Grangemouth plant, near Falkirk, which supplies two thirds of fuel to Scottish forecourts and represents 8 per cent of the country's manufacturing, is suffering annual losses of almost £90 million"

While the government sit back and take about £70m a day in taxes on fuel.

Disgusting.

People should be on the streets.

It needs some sort of protest now. It wont happen for logistical reasons, work etc

But everyone needs to blanket usage of fuel, stop the constant filling up

What will happen instead is media will say there is a fuel shortage, fuel will go to £2,20+ and everyone will typically british queue and have shortages

These costs are having a very clear knock on affect now in racing and track days. I'm seeing ACU race clubs constantly posting saying low numbers 'come on guys get booked'

They got us good and proper and nothing we can do about it
