Chaps (and ladies), I’ve managed to book a plot without power for our motorhome / van thing at Goodwood FoS. I don’t want to go to the faff of taking a generator, would a mains inverter be an option? Youngest will want to charge his iPad and phone etc, maybe this is best just done from 12v? Any advice appreciated!

If it just for charging iPad and phones then definitely best straight from 12v.
12v dc to 5v dc is much more efficient than 12v dc to 240v ac to 5 v dc.

A large power bank or 2 would probably give you enough charge for a weekend of camping.

Deal: Solar Charger 26800mAh Power Bank - Hiluckey Wireless Portable Charger 3A USB C Fast Charging External Battery Pack for Cell Phone Tablets https://amzn.eu/d/0OLXXt1

Thank you, that looks perfect. I can’t remember the last time we camped, used to do it a lot, power never really bothered me. I can’t think what we could need over and above that power pack though. If the girls were coming it would be a different matter lol

Doesn’t your motor home have a leisure battery? I swapped one of the cigarette lighters in my VW camper for a USB plug and that then runs off the 12v system. Simply plug my phone or iPad straight into that. No need for additional inverters or suchlike.

Something like this is a straight replacement for the lighter.

No idea, it’s rented, I haven’t seen it yet. I would hope so.
