V8V or DB9 ???

In the next few weeks I will have enough cash to purchase my first AM,
But since looking at late 4.3 or early 4.7 V8V,s I see my budget could also get me a DB9 .
As I want/need Sportshift/Auto anyway, what,s the merit of each model + Bonus of V12 motor if I go DB9.
Answers on a postcard please.

You don't say how you want to use the car and what attracts you to either.
The Vantage is a sportier drive but the DB9 is damned good looking cruiser. V8 OR V12 what's your poison? I'm a fan of the v12 myself but woukd never sniff at a V8 !
Drive both but maybe work out what you want to use it for first

Running costs might be the issue if you're on the fence.
Personally, I'm leaning towards a DB9 because of the added convenience of rear seats to throw my crap in there (rather than thinking I can give adults a lift somewhere). Yes, I could put it in the boot but that's an added effort.

Both great cars of course.
My 10 pence worth is that having had both is that the Vantage hatchback has great luggage capacity and is likely to cost less over all.
The full auto character of the DB9 is really good if that is what you are after but that wasn't for me.
V8 and V12 engines are both pretty reliable but the V12 has the potential to cost more and will.
Don't rule out the 4.3. it's also very good and you could get a better car for the same budget or save a little. (Compared to 4.7)
We all talk a lot about bhp this and bhp torque that but none of the cars are slow.

My reasons for choosing the DB9 - flame suit on! - were:
1) I preferred the proportions of the DB9
2) I like wood trim and the Vantage doesn't have that option
3) The DB9 has rear seats - well sort of - that take stuff if not people.
The relative merits of gearboxes didn't interest me, I leave it in D, with maybe an occasional flappy paddle to overtake. (If I wanted to hoon I'd go back to a TVR Griffith). Basically I bought it because it looks lovely, inside and out. Only the optional 'sport pack' suspension option prevents mine from being a 'grand tourer'.

LOL - I'm the polar opposite - I have a V8V as a daily driver (not that I use it much as I WFH). I knew I wanted an Aston as my latest mid-life crisis. I chose the Vantage over the DB9 because:My reasons for choosing the DB9 - flame suit on! - were:

2) I don't like wood trim - prefer leather and metal (or carbon, when I can justfiy the money...)
3) I no longer need rear seats - the Vantage boot is big enough for as much as I'll ever need to carry and the parcel shelf behind the seats is pretty big.
Although the additional 70bhp and 4 more cylinders of the V12 would have been nice, I absolutely had to have a manual (yes, I know DB9 manuals are available, but not in my budget at the time)

Actually maybe blue too... or bronze...On a side note, don't rule out private sellers. On the whole, the cars I've bought privately have been less trouble than cars bought from dealers. This may be because when a car develops a problem that the owner knows will be found by a private buyer, he chops it in at a dealer instead. The dealer just makes it shiny and resells or sends it to auction, problems unfixed.
The only snag with buying privately is that you'll have a period either with no Aston, or two of them!
