Alarm Probs

I have just discovered that my alarm doesnt seem to be working (RAC check worth every penny...Not). If I put my hand in when the roof is removed the hazard lights flash but there is no siren..Has anyone else had this trouble??

You need to remove the centre console and
right up at the top of the transmission tunnel
you will find a little black box with a small
hole in it. In the hole you will find an tiny
adjustment screw,turn it up a small amount and
try the alarm again. Dont go to mad with this
as it is a microwave sensor so if turned up too
much it will go off when you walk past the car or
even when you open your garge door.

If the only thing that is missing is the sound then it will probably be the siren at fault.
It would seem the alarm is actually triggering for the lights to be flashing, if the microwave sensor was adjusted incorrectly this would not be happening.

Is the microwave sensor standard on all Tuscans? I have never had any reaction when I lean in to pick things up from the car when the alarm is armed?

For an alarm to be Cat1 spec one of the must haves is either a microwave or ultrasonics, convertibles would have microwaves.

That is what happens if it is set too low.
If you sit in the car and wave your arms a bit
the indicators will flash, if you do it a couple
of times in quick succession the full alarm will
sound. If the alarm does not sound just turn up
the sensor a fraction and try it again. As I said
if you turn it up too much then the alarm will trigger
just by walking past it or looking in the window?
Takes a bit of time to set it just right so that when
you leen in over the window it goes off.

Opened the service bonnet on mine then unbolted the main bonnet on mine on friday. I thought I had turned the alarm off. I had not. Did it go off? No. Hilarious, TVR electrics....you have to laugh!!

Are you saying that there is no sound from the alarm siren when it is triggered but the hazards are flashing?

Or are you saying the hazards are flashing once each time the micro picks up movement inside the car?

Me too,but my alarm always goes off in the middle of the night,me thinking it is too sensitive and not just once.It goes off about 4am then 5am and then about 6am when I actually get up and turn the off,but just like ade said it doesn't go off when I reach into the car to pick something up.Oh yeah,I think my neighbours are beginning to get a little pied off,so any help would be gratefully received.

If I am posting something you already know then apologies now.

When you the press the remote and lock the car the alarm is not armed. After about 30 seconds the status LED changes frequency and you sometimes hear a click from the siren. At this point the system is armed.
If you want to check what the microwave is doing, the time to check it is within that 30 seconds. When it picks up movement it will flash the hazards as many times as it picks up movement. If you keep waving your hand it will keep flashing. After the 30 seconds the next time it senses movement it will set off the alarm. You use this facility to adjust it.
If you do not have a fully charged car battery that can also cause false alarms, quite common on cars that are not used daily or when the car battery is on it's way out.

Apologies if I'm hijacking this thread, but what I am doing to the alarm when I hold the button down on the key and I get 4 beeps instead of 2 ?

Good question,sometimes I get 4 beeps then sometimes just the two flashes of indicator lights.Whats going on

On mine if I set the alarm normally it flashes the indicators twice. If I set the alarm holding the remote longer than normal it flashes three times, this arms the alarm without the microwave working.
Allows you to eliminate the microwave if you are getting false alarms or if you want to leave a dog in the car etc.
If any of the switches are "open" eg boot, bonnet, doors, you will get 4 beeps to tell you something is open.

hasn't gone out before you arm the alarm.

You don't on my 2000 Chim, thought it was the same Meta alarm?

Mine does until the courtesy light delay
goes off then it goes back to normal(2000 Tuscan)
