I've just bought a 2019 M140i. Great car, but I'm struggling a bit with some of the gadgets.

I've got into the habit of resetting the trip mileage and average mpg readouts each time I fill up the tank. Pretty much every car that I've owned in the past 10 years has presented both these numbers, along with the fuel range, on a single screen (Ford, Citroen, Kia, Skoda, VW, Fiat), and the data is easily reset each time I fill up with a single button press, or it's reset automatically after refuelling. Not so simple on the M140i from what I can see. I can scroll though the individual parameters on the cluster display, but I can only see average mpg and range on the central display - not trip mileage/mileage since refuelling, which seems a bit odd. Am I doing something wrong?

Should my car be able to display the prevailing speed limit somewhere? Or was that feature an optional extra?
My car has Business Nav, and there's an option in iDrive setting for a speed warning. I'm not sure if that's a simple "if you go over a set speed", or "if you go more than a certain amount over the prevailing limit".

The speed limit display was an optional extra and it was displayed in the main binnacle when selected.

My car had the pro nav and was able to display various things about fuel economy, range etc with options for resetting them. Have you looked online / in the manual?

The manual goes into great detail about the data that can be displayed in the cluster. It says very little about the trip computer displays on the central screen, just that it displays various things, without listing what those things are. No pictures.

I had another play with it yesterday. All the trips display are average consumption, average speed, range, and a graphic of the fuel level.

I reset both trip computers, and the trip in the cluster. Just been for a drive, and the trip on the central display is actually showing driving time and distance in very small digits on a bar inside the fuel level graphic. I can barely read it with my distance glasses on, no idea why BMW made those numbers so small.

I've unchecked the "reset automatically" , so hopefully it'll keep track of distance travelled until I manually reset when filling up.
Weirdly, it no longer shows "range" on this screen though - I have to switch to the other screen to see that.

It's a shame that BMW went away from the clear trip displays on the old E-series cars, favouring fancy graphics over clear presentation.

I guess it says a lot about the M140i as a car that this is the one thing that's annoying me though.

That's what I mean when I say "central screen".

What I was hoping for was a single screen that shows all the info (mpg, distance, range), from the last time that I reset it manually, to the next time I refuel. That's exactly what nearly every car that I've owned in the past 10 years has done, but the M140i LCI2 can't do it. The info is all there, but not in one place.

Slight thread hijack if you dont mind.

I have been thinking about a M140i having been in my friends M135i. As far as I could see in his there was only one overall mpg on the central screen rather than an automatic resetting trip together with overall like on VAG cars. Is that the same on the M140i?

I didnt look at the instrument cluster if there is more there?
