Not sure how much love there is for these here, but thought might be of interest.

Bought this from a family friend who originally bought it from Ford as part of the employee purchase programme. Came with original bill for £9700 back in 1999. Not driven a Focus before and was well aware that folk applaud the handling etc, and have to say I was impressed. Handles well and driving position is spot on. Has the climate pack so you has a heated windscreen as well as the aircon .
Its only done 65k miles, and the interior as absolutely spotless.
Anyway , some photos.

Lovely. A lot nicer than the newer ones. Had a new one as a pool car and the A-pillar has a terrible angle/position to it. Drove terrible too.

Excellent!

Wife had one of those, 2.0 diesel 4 door

Drove superbly; would eat miles up for fun and took us all over the country when we were first dating, to all of the powerlifting and strongman comps I did through 2009-2012!

It then started to cost more than its worth to keep on the road; so sold it for £1k to a lad in Aberdeen that wanted a mile muncher whilst he was commuting to & from Aberdeen to work on the rigs etc

That's lovely. So nice to see an unmolested one-Mk1 Focus are one of those cars that have just suddenly disappeared from the roads.

I had the 1.6 Zetec.
At one point there were so many of these on the roads and rightly so. They did everything well.

I had a 2.0 Zetec 3 door. W554 LBD, looks like it's been off the road a few years now. It was a great car, and did everything well. After a few years having a very good time in London I needed cheap reliable transport while my finances recovered, so I traded in my 306 Gti6 and bought the focus; in 30,000 miles it only needed tyres, brakes, a pair of shocks and a thermostat housing. I brought my first son home in it.
Then I sold it for an ST170 which while fun to drive, was constantly having issues. Then I bought an ST220 which had a big end failure at 59,000 miles.

That looks lovely, especially as a three-door.

I had a Mk1.5 1.6 Zetec as well as a couple of ST170's. All brilliant things to drive, but the 1.6 was great beyond anything it should have been. I adored it (it was my first car, which helped) and went everywhere in it.

If a Metropolis Blue one came up in good, low mileage order, I'd be hard pushed to not buy it laugh

That looks lovely, I'm on my 2nd Focus now having had a Mk2 and now a Mk3.5, while the Mk3.5 is a good car and is still.nice to drive I do feel it isn't quite as sharp to drive as the Mk2 was

There's lots of love from me for them.
Had a 1.6 3 door Ebony as a first car.

It was rough at 147,000 but it still was a lovely car to drive, haven't driven anything since with the same levels of steering feel.

My mum had a 1.6 Ghia Facelift - sweet handling car. I remember wondering why there was no red line shown on the rev counter. I discovered that 7000 rpm (the end of the scale) was the red line biggrin. As a 17 year old it was great fun to punt about!

That looks brilliant! There's an 03 plate 3 door in silver round the corner from my house. Still looks clean and I think it's one owner from new too. Every Focus since has looked so bland.

I saw two S reg ones the other day, I thought about taking photos, as they're thin on the ground now. But I don't think my mates who I was on a walk with would've appreciated my anorakedness over an old Ford... rolleyes
