Very interesting cars at Porsche Parade in US
Discussion
The Porsche Club of America is the umbrella organization of all of the regional clubs in the US and Canada- 150,000 members. I have periodically gone to the annual events week which occurs at a different place in North America each year and has lots of Porsche corporate support.
This week was in the Poconos in Pennsylvania in a hug African-themed resort called the Kalihari which bills itself as family focused. ( the more or less rues out most of the features for me.
Decided to bring the Panamera for a change instead of a 911, and arrived with a filthy car and a screw through a front tire. Not repairable, so ordered a pair of front tires from the Porsche Dealer in Warrington PA. Had a week of gunk and pump to keep the tire usable and inflated.

Still, they had a special key for the room:

Some of the snacks looked ike they might appeal to six year olds:

But next morning looked promising:

Porsche has brought some interesting cars:
The America Convertible recently announced and featured in PH:

In the metal it looked quite nice but I would not really notice it as a special edition.
The 992 60th anniversary Sport Classic was lovely and reminded me of the original 997 Sport Classic on which it is modelled:

While they also had the one-off 996 Sport Classic which Porsch build as a reimagining of that the 996 would have been like had they built a modern Sport Classic:

Nearby was a 1955 Split window 356., two owners:

Always liked the 914. Very, very rare in UK not least because they were all LHD. 6-pot even more rare.
959 styling is to my eye gopping. Like a 911 that's been over-inflated.
Some real curiosities in amongst those photos. I guess US has been a massive market for Porsche right back from the days of Speedster and all the Porsche engined beach buggies.

So, tire full of gunk or not, it was time foe a drive on the beautiful roads in the area:

Stopped for a spot of lunch and came across this:

This was a special edition 997 GTS only for the PCA and was available only by auction to members, in a unique colour:

The strange this was that I had seen this exact car being delivered at the factory in 2015 when I was picking up my RS on the same day

Thanks for sharing. I think the 996 sport classic may have been a commission for PCNA? Stand out car for me. Interesting that they put a proper engine in it :-)
Yes, it was a one off commission. I understand that it will be auctioned for charity at the end of this year. A very special car indeed.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
