My 1st TVR is going to be...an S2. Need advice

I have just been to a dealer who has a 1991 TVR S2 for sale @4995. It has 98000 mile on the clock.
Looks good all round.

Is this a reasonable price for the car??

5k is not expensive for a decent S2 and whilst the mileage is slightly high, condition is more important.

Its the chassis that goes, particularly the outriggers, where is the car and where are you?
I'm sure that somebody local and S2 aware near to you would give an opinion on the car.

Check the outriggers & the trailing arms, both of which can fail due to corrosion. See tvrsseries.com buyers guides for more info.

try to check as much as possible before you fire it up, as soon as you here it burbbling away you`ll have bought it in your head anyway!!

That is sooo true!!! Once I had started the one I bought and test driven it, there was NO WAY I was going to walk away from it I had to have it.

When you drive it really work the gearbox to make sure all the synchros are smooth.....

check to make sure the rad isn't weeping in the bottom corners (recore can be a couple of hundred quid..

Make sure the exhaust isn't blowing by looking underneath... it will sound loud anyway which may hide a blow....but it is worth checking...

and don't forget the chassis of course.....

The car is in Wandsworth and I may go to look at it on Saturday. Should I get the AA to check it out or someone local from a TVR club?

best get rob at www.findasportscar.co.uk he specialises in TVR's and for a pure inspection is around the AA price I believe?
