Some great new books out...
Discussion
I don't know about you guys, but I haven't had much time to pick up a book with the light venings and packled weekend, but we've reached the tmie of year when it's easy to find yourself with too much free time.
Happily, my two favourite contemporary authors both have new books out at the moment..
Michael Marshall's "The Straw Men"
and Christopher Brookmyre's "The Sacred Art of Stealing"
Both cracking authors... you should also have a look at "Only Forward" by the former (as Michael Marshall Smith) and "Boiling a Frog" by the latter.
Suffice it to say that these guys have both had significant influence on some of my writing style adn are the only authors that can write a novel that I "can't put down"..
ps Cheers, Ottakars for letting me wander round, find all the books I want then go back and order them on Amazon much cheaper..

CarZee, I agree with the Brookmyre choice. I am still waiting for the guys at BOL.com (even cheaper than Amazon, but no, I do not work there) to deliver mine. I loved all his stuff, esp the first line to "Quite Ugly One Morning". Tis rare for an author to be able to make me laugh out loug, but he manages it.
Spares is a great book, but I still have a real soft spot for Only Forward.

Spares is possibly one of the finest things I've ever read.
Yep - I have all his stuff.. "The Man who drew Cats" is quite awesome..
Have you picked up the short stories "What you make it"?
Some of them are particually odd, but it's worth it for the story "the man who drew cats". Immense.

True. I borrowed it off a friend, read it cover to cover non stop and then bought my own copy. The opening 5 pages are wonderful.
All his works have some great lines.....
