Anything similar to US Ford Explorer?
Discussion
I might be looking for a unicorn here, but if I explain what I'm after perhaps you have some suggestions?
We rented a mid 2010s Ford Explorer on a trip to the USA 3 years ago and it was perfect for what I'm after as our next car... High driving position and off road styling, petrol engine and a huge load area behind the passenger seats with loads of space for 4 large adults. Is there anything available in the UK market in RHD that is similar? I want a petrol engine as I do a lot of short runs which have played havoc with the dpf on our current diesel car. All I've found is twin cab pickups (compromise is that I can't find any with petrol engines, the passenger seats are fairly cramped, and the load bay is separate to the cabin which isn't ideal) or something like a newish Berlingo XL where the compromise is in relation to the styling and seating position. I'd look for an imported Explorer but my wife won't contemplate driving a LHD car.
We've got a 2012 Alhambra plus up to £25k to spend, and would like to buy something which would last at least 5-7 years; our car buying plan for the last 30+ years has been to buy nearly new and run it until it's on its last legs before replacement.
Can you think of any vehicles that fit the bill?

It won't be nearly new but it'll last for a long time.

We only reallly have premium cars of a similar size to the explorer here in the UK. All these I have listed have a similar sized wheelbase and/or length to the explorer.
If you are able to charge it, i.e. have a driveway, then I would consider a plug-in hybrid. It'll be very cheap to run in comparison to other SUVs of a similar size.
