Hi all,

I’ve had my chim for a couple of months now & have been enjoying hassle free motoring!

However, a couple of weeks ago my odometer stopped turning so I tried to pull a couple of the related fuses & clean them up to see if that solved it.

It didn’t, and in the process of doing so I’ve managed to stop my boot release button from working!

There was a small flash from the fuse box when I replaced one of the fuses - wondering whether this could have caused it?

I’ve checked all the fuses and can’t see any broken, so am wondering whether I managed to move something which has messed with a connector?! All the other electrics seem to be working fine (other than the odo which was already stuck)

Any assistance much appreciated here.

I assume it's a digital odometer?

All I can suggest is new fuses throughout the fusebox and electrical contact spray around the relays and fuse box.

Common issue with the speedo sticking , just use the search function in pistonheads

Thanks both for the replies, I’ve just gone through again pulling them all out & cleaning & its miraculously started working - must have been a poor contact.

Yep I’ve tried the common methods for the speedo - hitting it & driving backwards in reverse - I suppose taking the dash off & getting the unit out is the next step.

Thanks

Mine stopped as it went over 100k.

I ended up removing it and gently prising the silver rim off the speedo and then giving it a prod with a flat blade screwdriver.

Very gently tapped the crimping back on the speedo. Been fine ever since.

Electrical gremlins are common. There is a lot of heat in the fusebox area, not least the heat soak from the engine and gearbox and then the two heater pipes running right above it. Add in a bit of damp and the headaches begin. biggrin

FWIW Mine stuck on 199,999

Got it working by jacking up rear wheels,
dash top off,
loosen speedo and rotate it 180 degrees so upside down,
started engine
into 3rd gear ran at 40 mph
tapped the speedo gently with a rubber handled screw driver
and it started the mileometer working again.

Hitting it has often proven to be the fastest fix or breakagesmile
