Jet-Skis

Thought I would post this here as I am not sure where else it should go!!

I am considering getting a Jet Ski. Now when I mention this to people they say I should get a stand up one. However if I got a sit-down type one, my wife could possibly have a go without being too scared!

I want to get one that is very cheap just in case we don't have time to use it next year or something silly like that. What would people suggest?

Does anyone reading ride jet skis in the Ipswich or possibly East Anglia region (this is what I am really asking!!) as there does seem to be a lack of places to ride them round here. I know I can ride them in the sea at Felixstowe etc but I wanted somewhere with freshwater and a bit calm to learn on!

P.S. I have searched and found some good advice on the actual jet skis but really want to know about the location stuff mainly!

Not too sure about that region. A bit further down and I would suggest the River Blackwater or the Colne. Plenty of space for fun, and not too exposed either.

If you do get one, please do learn how to ride it properly - other water users will appreciate it (ie me in my sailing boat).

Tallington lakes near Peterborough used to have them and rent them out (going back about 12 years now though).

When we used to play around on them there were 3 types, Jet Skis (stand-up) Jet bikes (sit down) and Wet bikes (sit down and hold on for dear life). Perhaps all changed now though - I was only a nipper watching my dad!

Billing Aquadrome near Northampton is a good bet, they give lessons there too.

You can hire or take your own, if you check out there site, they also have some for sale. A real nice 1999 GP760 at £3,250 (& its a 2 seater).

Go for it, last year i bought my first one (pictured in profile)and this year i have upgraded to the 215hp supercharged RXP. I take delivery on saturday. They are very easy to use so dont worry about learning in the sea. just remember they only steer when you throttle it.

Both mine are the "sit down", "run around" type. They do 70mph+ and are worth their weight in fun!!

Oh my goodness, just come in from riding my new supercharged ski. it is fantastic. The acceleration is unbelievable. in the space of around 15 metres it is doing 60+mph. rides over wakes with super ease and confidence.
