Question for the masses....how loud is your fuel pump ?

Mine is working fine but i noticed last year that it is quite loud.

I obviously hear it prime on start up, but when i am in the car and come to a stop at traffic lights for instance, i can easily hear the pump.

I noticed this quite a few months back so purchased a genuine Bosch pump, but just thought i would ask the question.

If it is a case of TADTS then i shall keep it as a spare. If it should not be noisey then i will replace it .

They all do that if you have upgraded to a Bosch 044 pump to deal with BHPs in excess of 300-325.
Bloody noisy things.
The TVR pump is quiet by comparison.

Not had it in my Chim yet but my old fuel pump in my Skyline GTR was a right noisy bugger when it was below half a tank.

The Bosch 044 gets ridiculously noisy when it gets hot, and of course it is circulating so much fuel that it all the fuel gets hot pretty quickly.

What fuel level do you have in your tank or is this a constant noise?
Try loosening the fuel cap whilst it’s making this noise. Just confirm it’s breathing properly.
Does it make this noise from cold.
If it’s making noise on a full tank of cold fuel then replacement of pump seems likely but they all make a noise to some extent.

Check the bracket holding it is tight.

I have recently fitted the bosch 044 and I can hardly here it, apart from a whirring when ignition is turned on for the 3 second prime.

I have a slightly larger pump bracket that I've lined with sheet rubber to dampen any noise it does make.
