Hi all, looking for an instant access savings account a quick search has resulted in 1.25% the best I could find. Needs to be monthly interest, don't want to tie up funds for too long as looking at doing some home improvements sum is 70K. The funds were in an account linked to an offset mortgage, mortgage has now been moved to a different provider.
Also found Ford Finance which offered a slightly better rate but don't know about the credibility or how to check.

Thanks for looking.

Adam.

Marcus have upped thier rate 2 or 3 times in the last few months so I'm hopeful it will continue to increase as rates go up. Aldermore are also worth a look. I have accounts with both and online setup is easy.

We use Ford Money. Currently at 1.3% and they are very good at putting it up when rates rise so I expect another rise soon.

My only comment about Ford Money is that, unlike Marcus etc, they are a day or two access probably because they aren't a clearing bank and use a system like Building Societies' roll numbers.

Currently Virgin M Plus Saver 1.56% but only up to £25,000. Then Chase next best at 1.5%.

If you need access to the £70k soon, why not stick some in Premium Bonds? You won’t lose anything and you have a chance of earning more than the paltry amounts offered by the banks.

Good point. Paying in is same day but withdrawals slightly slower. I discovered this last year when buying a car as I assumed it would be quicker and I got very twitchy on collection day!

I had an e-mail from Marcus yesterday saying you can get a 0.25% bonus for 1 year but you need to log in to the account and activate it rather than getting it automatically, so make sure you've got that.

I think you only need to do that if you are an existing customer - new ones will get it automatically.
