Well after 40 years of driving the, nearly, inevitable happened... just received a NiP from our good friends in Northant whilst on the M6 (thanks to trains trike worries by don-in-law I was 'dad-taxiing' - hmmm another reason for me to dislike the RMT?

I have a horrible feeling I got caught by a mobile van in Leeds on Friday last week. Indicated 40 in a 30, so possibly 35-36 real mph. I'm currently going through that unpleasant 2 week period of getting an instant sinking feeling every time a brown envelope comes through the door.
Hopefully you'll be offered a naughty boy course as an alternative to the points, something I won't be eligible for if I do get done, as it's only about 6 months since my last course.

Always amazes me the number of people who just roll over and pay the tax for these minor infractions. Always an avenue of defence despite the usual brakeist posters with their usual agenda to spread propaganda and have everyone cowering in the corner feeding their anti-speeding hysteria...

I notice you don't say what this defence would be.I got my first just over three years ago (which reminds me, the points are probably not counted now but anyway), 71 in a 60 I think it was, 3 points and £100 fine. It happened just before my insurance was due to renew but the penalty hadn't come through before it did. The following year when my insurance was due again I declared the points. Premium dropped by £120. So I was £20 better off as a result 
ah goodoh. my first was a overhead gantry camera on the M4, flashed doing 83mph.
i'm now paranoid about speeding under variable speed limit sections of motorway, so am looking forward to being rear ended by a lorry when i am forced to go at 40mph on a clear, well sighted bit of motorway for no reason whatsoever.
