My Father gets thsi message from Zonealarm..

"Services and Controller App trying to act as a server"
Application = "Services exe"

He presses Deny, but what is it and whats it trying to do?

It's the name of a windows application that is used to manage backgound services. I can't think of any reason for it to try to act as a server unless you have got some form f remote managability enabled. It is also a name used by a huge number of trojans, and of course they'd just love to be allowed to act as a server. I suggest you assume the worst and carry out a spyware/trojan scan. Also see if you can confirm the size and locatin of the exe, it may be possible from that to prove that it is benign.
