The £180k Fiat

Another world gone mad moment?
I guess it has some redeeming features to some, quite aggressive looks, wheels, looks in good nick, but struggling to justify anything that comes close to even a quarter of the asking price.
Personally if I wanted something like this would go for an Integrale, and even at their bonkers prices would have a 100k left in my pocket.

I had one these. Same colour too.
I paid 8-9 grand for it around 2000 ish from Italy.
I thought it was super cool, but no ball of fire and terrifyingly spindly, especially at the back where the rear end was a few gaping steel frames with the panels hanging off them.
Weirdly enough it was a fantastic motorway cruiser but not a vast amount of fun in the bends.
Never driven a hot Escort but I expect that would be a much more satisfying drive. All the same these will be rarer than ever and very desirable to some people.

It's not just any Fiat is it?
How does it compare to Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts with competition history?
I don't know how good the £66K Capri is, but could this homologation special be worth half a dozen decent Capris?
I've owned Fiats. If I won a lottery roll over I'd consider that Fiat. It's small and I like the colour. I am assuming it has a Lampredi Twin Cam in it.

Yeah it's just a Fiat. 3 times world champion 131 Abarth, rallied by Rohrl, Alen, Mouton, Andruet & Bettega amongst many others. 1 of 400 made in total, not even in the same league rarity wise vs any Integrale of which thousands were made unless you count different coloured interiors and exteriors. Nowhere near as bespoke either. Versus the road cars the 131 Abarth has independent rear suspension, LSD, all fibreglass and alloy panels apart from the roof, weighs about a tonne, and goes like stink with an unforgettable noise only matched by a BDA/BDG. Out of that 400 run, most of them became works or privateer rally cars and don't exist anymore. One of the best cars I've ever driven, amazing on a back road, and huge propensity to go sideways. Price is about right, one currently up for 220k euros in Italy. They've been at this price for 3-4 years.

You may want to do a teensy bit more reading about what this particular car actually is. They are crap . I would love for those on here to get behind the wheel of one today then come back on here and say its a good car !

This from a year ago, suggests its not far off the money. As others have said, money no object I'd have it along side (although pics aren't currently working) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275258390155?hash=item4...

Sorry it wasn't meant to be misleading, I just assumed that most people seeing it would think it would be a bit special/different type of Fiat, and not something like a 180k Cinquecento It's not just any Fiat is it?

Hardly, these are now so rare they've been in the 150k price bracket for a good few years now.Another world gone mad moment?

Plus, there are a number of Integrale that have sold recently for more than this 131 Abarth.....
Anyway, Integrale's are common as muck compared to a 131 Abarth Stradale....
They are terrific cars.....apart from the awful uncomfortable seats.
As much a love the 'grale, I'd take this over one any day, but then, the 131 Abarth is more my era, being right wheel drive

You didn't miss much! I had a couple of Fiat Twin-Cams in the 70s and then bought a MK2 RS2000 Escort in 1983.
OK it was pretty quick as it weighed b*gger-all, but the Pinto was so agricultural compared to a Lampredi twin-cam.
My RS2000 was great fun for a blast but got tiring on longer journeys - I replaced it with a 2.8i Capri that was so much better.
But I love this Fiat.
