I can see your point in trying to get your shocks repaired but £600 for a replacement pair is only £300 each.
A shop specialising in motorbike shocks may not have the expertise/equipment/spares to do car stuff without loading the price up in case of difficulty.
I’m sure we’d all be interested in whether you get anyone to take them on.

Well lads its looking like nobody can help repair, of all the emails I sent to be given responses of it cant be done, too difficult (to fit normal ones) I've only had one slightly positive response in that one of them wanted a picture of them. I've sent them a link to a site selling them. Well will see what the scrapyard has to offer if I can find the same Volvo with much lower mileage. If a car crashed from the front, would the rear shocks be ok or is it impossible to tell?
To rebuild them properly depending on make, you might need a fair amount of kit, ie.
Spring compressing rig, odd astoundingly expensive one off sockets/spanners, taps and dies, tig welding set, nitrogen cylinder plus gauges and adaptors, lathe, mill, grinding and chroming equipment and so on.
Lord knows how much it costs to grind and hard chrome a worn shock rod, I had a bit of scooter trim about the size of a Mercedes boot emblem re-chromed which cost £35 and that was not a precision item.

Essentially most can't be bothered to do unusual requests like the OPs because until they take it apart they won't know what parts they need and those parts may not be available
It's ok to buy used if you're not keeping it long or it's may be easy to convert to none self levelling (check first on some modern cars it's not so simple)
