981 Boxster v BMW Z4 M40i

Looking for advice. I'm looking to buy a 2 seater sports car that I can use as a daily but have fun in at the weekend.
I've just been to look at a 981 Boxster Black Edition and a Z4 M40i. Obviously a few years difference which you can feel from the infotainment etc but any recommendations or concerns with either of these cars (my first impressions are the Porsche is very firm and loud (sports exhaust) whilst the BMW is more GT than sports car (and much faster).
And thoughts and advice greatly welcomed, especially any good, bad or ugly stories.
